Not just any Birth Worker....

Why I love Everything Birth

I am the proud wife of my husband, Scott.  We have been together for about 18 years and married 15 of those.  He is a rock in my life and without him, I could not be where I am or do half the things that he encourages and reassures me to be strong through.  We all know life brings struggles and he is the steady when those times come.  I also am the proud Mama to our handsome son Evan and our beautiful daughter Jaylee.  Each day they bring smiles and laughter and let's be honest, tears at times too.  I wouldn't have it any other way!  God sure knew what He was doing when he brought these 3 amazing beings into my life.  I am forever grateful to be a part of such an awesome tribe.

The very word Doula to me personally means service, support, care, consideration of others along with many other positive adjectives I could use. My why is so much more than fulfilling a desire or a dream that lay in my heart awakened by my own personal process. My “Why” is because I was called to serve others and show compassion and emotional support in one of the most powerful times of a Mothers life. I long to help women and their partners embrace the birthing process and feel educated all while recognizing they have a voice….They ARE the voice for such a time as this.

I have an unusual amount of intuition when it comes to people; I am able to figure out motivations and intentions with a high rate of accuracy. Even with people whom I've had very little interaction with. This allows me to understand and act on cue in any moment within the laboring world. I love being different and surprising and not fitting stereotypes. I would rather please God, than go my whole life pleasing the world. I am sensitive yet strong and can handle situations on a whim with comfort and confidence which helps others be more at ease. In the Doula world, I combine physical strength with mental and emotional to help women see their potential and what they were made for. I connect with the family of the mother to create a teamwork atmosphere and really bring everyone together during such a powerful time.

Working with me is fun and educational. I love to help women and their partners grow their knowledge and laugh or smile to relieve the daily pressures put on a growing family.

PRENATAL:

From our first prenatal consult to our last face to face meeting I will be listening to all of the items that are important for you and your partner during this special time. I will keep notes handy as well as all my doula tools. During the first couple of visits it will be us just getting to know each other so we can grow together during this process. By our 2nd prental appointment we will have fun practicing pretend contractions in the comfort of your home and what works for you the best!! No worries...partners are as involved as you and they feel comfortable with. I am here to support your network and work together as a team!

LABOR & BIRTH:

I will arrive once you contact me and request my presence at your side for laboring and birth support. I will have trained you on different movements with proper techniques to strengthen your perineum before and help you keep focus and movement to your advantage. I will be an encouraging force throughout this amazing time for you and will be on call 24/7! I will be an advocate to remind you during trying times of what your birth plan is as well as provide mental, emotional and physical support!

POSTPARTUM:

After baby arrives, I will assist with the first latch if you insist but also keep my distance in the background so you can enjoy your first look...your first touch together.  By day 3 or 4, I will arrive at your home and check on you and baby and partner and and answer any questions you may have. I will be on call till the end of your 2nd week postpartum!   I am excited to be a part of each journey and I show that enthusiasm as well as bring education to the meetings so you have someone to lean on! It is an honor to work with each new family and I treat it just as that!
